Chris Callihoo, President

After spending countless hours in the instrumentation trade, Chris founded Phoenix Energy Services in 2014 along with Mike Byers. Chris completed his Red Seal Journeyman Instrumentation Certification and now has over 15 years plus experience in the oil and gas industry. Many of those hours were spent on maintenance and construction projects and this is where Chris's passion for the trade grew strong. Taking the lead role on projects he knew that success started with people first. This is where Chris instilled in his employees a humble perspective and along with his natural ability to teach, it was a winning combination. More recently, Chris leads the Phoenix Energy team as the President and has been an intrinsic part of its continual growth.

Mike Byers, Vice President

Having 25 plus years in the Electrical and Instrumentation trades, Mike also found time to broaden his knowledge and spent 4 years as a Subsea Controls Technician operating out Houston, Texas, where he gained a wealth of knowledge and experience to his already heighten career. After coming back Mike once again took lead roles in construction and maintenance projects, where he too had a passion to mentor a team of first-class tradespeople.

Mike then joined forces with Chris Callihoo to create Phoenix Energy Services. Mike is an integral part of Phoenix Energy in its day to day operations, his hands-on approach is a key factor to building a strong and knowledgeable first-class team. Mike's ability to troubleshoot, and his ability to innovate solutions takes customer service to the next level.

Cam Lapointe, Operations Manager

After completing his Heavy Equipment Technician Certification in 2010, Cam continued his education and become Red Seal Instrumentation Technician in 2014. This gave Cam the knowledge to take his career to the next level. Cam joined the Phoenix group in 2014 as a field technician, as he was drawn to the passion that Chris and Mike showed to their employees. Over the next 10 months, Cam watched the company triple its size even through an industry that was in tough shape. He knew then that he was a part of greater things to come. Cam took the opportunity to invest in the company and was appointed Operations Manager. Cam's outgoing personality and his drive to work directly with the team make him a major asset to day to day operations.

Dan Wiebe, Automation Manager

Dan joined Phoenix energy in 2016 as an automation specialist and was later appointed Automation Manager in 2017. From early on Dan had a passion for technology in computers and programming. Having grown up in the Peace Region area, Oil and Gas was front and centre. He wanted to take his passion and apply it to the field. He started his journey to becoming a Journeyman Electrician, knowing he could specialize in the automation sector. Throughout his apprentice years, Dan worked closely with automation products, wellsite and plant programming and commissioning. Having been mentored from veteran automation specialists and with his outside the box thinking, his future was set. Dan furthered his knowledge into instrumentation and currently has completed his 3rd year. He is passionate about new technology and is always looking for advancements to enhance the customers productivity and reporting. His ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support to the field is exceptional. Dan continues to strive for growth and new opportunities.

Dustin Callihoo, Instrumentation Manager

Dustin joined the team at Phoenix Energy in 2018 taking on the role of Instrumentation Manager. In this role Dustin is committed to fostering an environment of teamwork and ensure that the strategy is clearly defined while overseeing the performance of maintaining the Phoenix model of best trained tradespeople. Dustin will be responsible for controlling budgets, negotiating contracts and providing day to day communication/coaching/mentoring with the team to ensure that the jobs/projects remain on schedule and on budget. Having been born and raised in the Grande Prairie area and over 15 years experience, he is no stranger to the heavy workloads, demanding timelines and often the conditions of the terrain projects are located at. He understands customers needs and the pressures they are faced with, thus making it priority to give exceptional customer service. Dustin's commitment to safety, ensures everyone gets home to family and friends, while maintaining the environment.

Darrel Edgar, Electrical Manager

Darrel is the newest member to join the Phoenix Management Team. He was born in the Peace Region and at a early age his family relocated to Ontario where he spent his youth. After graduating from High School, he moved back to the Peace Region to begin his career path. In 2006, Darrel started the apprenticing program to become a Heavy-Duty Mechanic, finishing in 2010 as a Certified Journeyman Red Seal. He continued to grow and foster his trade, and after 2 years in the field, he knew that further education would provide him career advancement opportunities now and in the future years. In 2012 he started the electrical apprenticeship program, finishing in 2016 with his Journeyman Red Seal. Darrel joined Phoenix Energy in 2017, as a field Electrician, he worked on various construction projects and maintenance service calls, taking a lead role. This is where Chris and Mike realized that with his willingness to go the extra mile for customers and the dedication he had to mentoring his fellow co-workers with ensuring 100% safety, was true to Phoenix's Mission Statement. Darrel, his wife and children look forward to this new endeavor and in true fashion Darrel is not stopping with his education, he is now working towards his Master Electrician Certification.

Jeff Eaton, Area Manager, Edmonton Branch

As a Journeyman Instrumentation Technician and having worked in the field for the past 14 years with seven of those years in management, Jeff is well-versed in project management, risk assessment, team building, communication and technical implementations. With an adaptive and innovative approach to project planning and execution, he holds an excellent reputation and strong rapport with customers. After joining Phoenix Energy in 2016, it was easy to see that his honest, approachable and open communication style with customers and team members was a winning combination. When the opportunity rose to invest in the opening of the Edmonton office, Jeff knew it was a perfect fit for him. Jeff continues to mentor the team to be the best trained tradespeople and this shows by the continual growth and reputation the branch has in the area.

Steve Fick, EHS & Safety Division Manager

In 2001 Steve started his career in the oil and gas sector working on service rigs. In 2005 Steve lost his Brother to workplace incident which was his motivation to move into a health and safety role. In 2005 through 2009 while working in safety, he started and completed his Occupational Health and Safety Certificate through the University of Alberta. In 2010 he wrote, passed and obtained his Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation and in 2012 he completed his Certified Health and Safety Consultant designation. Over the past 17 years Steve has developed his skills through education, training and on the job experience. Since 2001 Steve has worked throughout the oil and gas sectors including drilling/completions, production operations, pipelines, major project & facility construction. Steve's main area of expertise includes production operations with a focus on facility construction, brown field expansion projects, turnaround projects and daily production operations.

With over 17 years experience in the Oil and Gas Industry, he committed to safety through leadership, communication, mentoring and personal connections. As EHS & Safety Division Manager, Steve knows the high importance of this role. He is committed to our employees and their families by fostering a culture of safety and providing a safe working environment.
